Alpa logoThe theme of the 2012 conference is Measuring Success: Opportunities and challenges taken from the perspective of learners, practitioners and funders. The following strands will be incorporated:

  • assessment and accountability
  • assessment and learning
  • alternative measures of success
  • situated literacy and numeracy.

Registration and conference sessions

Registrations are now open. Early bird registrations are due by 27 April.

  • Day 1 (29 June): research forum with invited speakers and a chaired discussion panel.
  • Days 2 and 3: (30 June,1 July): presentations and workshops with both a research and practice focus.

Call for abstracts

Submissions for presentations or workshops (maximum 250 word abstract) are invited for any of the following fields:

  • Foundation skills in vocational contexts
  • Foundation skills in bridging programmes
  • Workplace literacy, numeracy and language provision
  • Welfare-to-work-programmes
  • Youth Transition programmes
  • Corrections-based contexts
  • Adult ESOL Literacy
  • Community-based initiatives including whanau/ family literacy
  • Financial literacy
  • Health literacy
  • E-learning initiatives and digital literacies.

Submissions that address both theoretical and practical issues in these fields are welcome. All abstracts will be double blind peer reviewed.

Delegates may choose to offer:

  • a 30 minute paper (20 minute presentation and 10 minutes for questions), or
  • a 60 or 90 minute workshop.
Closing date for abstracts:

Applications must be received by 5pm Monday 26 March 2012. Successful applicants will be notified by 16 April.

Conference Proceedings

After the conference presenters will be offered an opportunity to submit full papers for publication in refereed conference proceedings.
