Catch-up Mondays – proven good practice
Marjolein Wesseling, from the Samala Robinson Academy, won a Good Practice Publication Grant to write about an idea which has been shown to support learners.
Previously, the Academy ran classes five days a week from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm, and the tutors worked from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. Anything that the students were required to catch-up on could only happen after class while the tutors were still there. The tutors own professional development, marking and lesson planning could also only happen after classes.
They discovered that by implementing a different weekly timetable they were able to provide a solution to the issues and challenges that students and tutors were facing in trying to get everything done.
