Web-based learning tool - PeerWise
We were delighted to host Academy of Tertiary Teaching Excellence member Paul Denny from the University of Auckland as he presented his PeerWise software at two workshops in Christchurch last Friday. PeerWise is a web-based learning tool that supports students in the creation of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with model answers and associated explanations.
Paul's demonstration provided the 42 participants, from university, institute of technology and polytechnics, industry training organisations and private training establishments with the opportunity to have a hands-on session with the tool where they were able to realise its potential benefits for learners and educators. Immediately following these interesting workshops, Paul was requested to establish log-in pages for a university and an industry training organisation. He also received a request for a copy of the presentation so it could be discussed with a head of school at Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT).
We extend special thanks to University of Canterbury’s College of Education and to CPIT for providing facilities and hosting these events.
Two further workshops will be hosted by Nelson, Marlborough Institute of Technology on 24 May.
PeerWise is freely available, easy for educators to adopt, and has been used in over 120 courses at 21 institutions. Further information about PeerWise
