Background on Southern Hub
Background information on the Ako Aotearoa Southern Hub
Background
The Southern Hub was launched in February 2008 and we are extremely proud to be representing Ako Aotearoa across the entire South Island.
Our Hub office is hosted by the University of Canterbury at 51 Solway Avenue, on the College of Education site. My name is Bridget O’Regan and I work as the Hub Regional Manager
My career in the tertiary sector began as a tutor in the Department of Office Systems at Christchurch Polytechnic, with additional responsibilities such as administering the Pitman and Trades Certificate examinations. I then moved to the Christchurch College of Education for 18 years before settling at the University of Canterbury.
My teaching roles within these organisations have included lecturing in secondary teacher training in commerce, Chinese, and professional studies, and teacher professional development courses. I have also taken on a number of administrative responsibilities during that time, including those of Secondary Teaching Practice Coordinator for nine years and Master of Teaching and Learning Student Dean for five years.
I have a strong interest in research using a qualitative approach and action research methodology and have presented my work at Conferences in New Zealand, South Africa, the United States, Samoa and Taiwan. My partiular passion relates to people of other cultures, with my masters thesis being undertaken in Samoa.
