What does an Instructional Designer do?

We had such a range of people at our meeting in August. We all did different things and yet shared commanalities. Par tof the issue with professionalisation is trying to define the role in the first instance. This made me think a little , as I am sure we all have, about the defintion of the ID role. Wanda passed on an article from Auckland University which is of interest, particularly the ID matrix image.

Where do you think your role fits into the matrix? Are you even in the matrix ;-)
