coop as a marketing tool

I have set up a coop news search in google to help find interesting bits for the blog. What is clear is that a lot of North American tertiary's use coop as a marketing tool. They often include it in their press releases. For example:
About Wake Technical Community College:
Wake Technical Community College (Wake Tech) is a two-year, public institution providing education and training for the citizens of Raleigh and surrounding Wake County. Wake Tech provides a comprehensive array of learning opportunities and serves an annual enrollment of more than 62,000 students. ................... As the second largest community college in the state, Wake Tech provides customized workforce training for new and expanding industries and a cooperative education program that interfaces with the corporate community.
This about Wake technical Community was included after a scholarships press release. I find it interesting that I don't pick up the same promotion from NZ Tertiary's. I know I went to my University due to location eg easy access from my home, but with regard to the major / degree I know I did one that had coop as part of it because it seemed like the best thing to do.
So do you think it would be a good idea to use coop in marketing ? Thoughts?
