I want to see examples of activity-based learning

Go to Activity-based learning on the Deakin Online site. There'll you'll find five case studies of online courses.
Use the left-hand menu to access other categories.

I want to see how learning activities are used in online courses

In Exemplars on the AUTC Learning Designs site, you'll find course design maps on which the learning 'tasks' are clearly identified and sequenced. The relationships between learning tasks (activities), learning resources, and learning supports are also clearly demonstrated.

Click on any of the exemplars on this page, then use the top-right menu: 'designers voice'. The icon for activities is a green square.

How do I design assessment activities?

Have a look at Design - this is one section of a large resource called 'Assessing Online' on the Australian Flexible Learning site. Follow the links under 'C: Design' on the left-hand menu.

When should I start thinking about assessment activities?

Assessment is best thought about at the beginning of the design process rather than at the end. Assessing learning, on the SCU Pathways to Good Practice site poses some important questions to think about when designing assessment.

Assessment can be considered as integral to learning activities: in these learning design examples, assessable activities are indicated by an asterisk.

How can I write meaningful course learning objectives?

The SCU site has good advice about writing learning objectives. Look at Key design issues for developing units.

You could also check out these taxonomies of learning objectives to find the wording that is most applicable.
