Student attributes (learning styles, culture, and social contexts) affect students' ability to engage in learning.

Design should be such that students can integrate their individuality, experience, and culture into the learning environment. Good design therefore should forgo assumed learner characteristics in favour of catering for 'anyone anywhere'.
