Efficient screen use, please

I'd like better use of my screen real estate please.

1) Have the header only on the home page. I visit other pages for the content, and I don't want to scroll down on almost every page.
2) Forums
   a) get rid of the header
   b) get rid of the right navigation pane
   c) get rid of the alternating colour of the responses, the outline is enough
   d) prefer a white background and a slightly larger font
   e) put the details of the writer on the far left
   f) use the whole width of the screen for each forum entry
   g) no need to add a subject for each entry - forum title should be enough
3) Make it inviting to browse Communities and Project by listing them without the header

Just my ideas.  Anybody else?
