I've written an update about new & upcoming functionality - http://akoaotearoa.ac.nz/community/owners-and-moderators-community/resources/pages/new-functionality-site-26-feb-2009
From now on, I'll be posting similar updates as responses to this Forum Topic. You can reply with your comments/questions to this topic, or email me if you want. regards, Justin

thanks very much for your comments David.
re private discussion forums - note that entire threads are either private or public and remain that way. ie you can't start a public discussion topic and then make it private later (or vice versa), or have a mix of public and private responses in one thread. A community's discussion forum can however, have a mix of public topics and private topics.
I understand what you mean about it being a bit inconsistent with the way that pages and files work. But we thought that the ability to make whole private threads, or part of threads, go public would create major issues.
Yes, we're certainly planning to do some more enhancements - but (apart from a few small tweaks) we'd like to do this after an consultation period to see exactly what changes users would like. We'll be kicking this off fairly soon I hope.
in the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions/ideas, then I'd love to hear them and they'll 'go into the mix'.
cheers, Justin
All updates completed!
Hi Justin - congrats on getting all the updates done :-). I like the privacy option for forum posts, although from my perspective it would be great to have this "ticked" by default for the first post in a new topic. Or laternatively, have to tick to have it published. That makes it consistent with the default for adding files and resources. That may be the bias of my group's community purpose showing - we want a private community from which we selectively publish things.
Any other development plans on the horizon?
Cheers
David
