What is PBL Interactive (PBLi) and why is it now called SBL Interactive (SBLi)?
PBL Interactive (PBLi) is a suite of tools which allow authoring and delivery of interactive scenarios for use in scenario-based lessons. It was developed as an output of an e-learning Collaborative Development Grant project in 2005-2006, and free licenses for the program were granted to all Government-funded tertiary institutions.
An archive website detailing the project can be found at http://pbl.massey.ac.nz . Along with describing the eCDF project and software, this website contains support elements for the original eCDF version of PBL Interactive such as a series of FAQs and support notices. Many of the FAQs are relevant only to the original version of the software. This website will be kept as an archive, to show the origins of the program.
How can I update my eCDF copy of PBLi?
The Centre for Biological Information and Technology (CBIT), University of Queensland, who owns the source code to PBL Interactive, is commercialising the program under the name SBL Interactive. The program (both the client-based authoring tool and the Server product) is available free-of-charge as an update to PBLi. To obtain an institutional license and update your eCDF version, please go to http://www.sblinteractive.org and request an account. Be sure to say you are seeking an upgrade to PBLi.
