Recent Hei Tauira Workshops
Teaching and Learning for Success for Maori in Tertiary Settings
Janinka Greenwood and Lynne Te Aika – researchers from College of Education, University of Canterbury – recently presented four Hei Tauira workshops: one in Auckland on 19 March, another in Northland on 20 March and two in Hamilton on 28 March. It was rather a busy schedule for them and the floods in Northland meant that Janinka presented at NorthTec on her own and Lynne in Auckland on her own. The two in Hamilton were held at Wintec's new marae, which was a fantastic venue, with its multi-purpose meeting room and impressive architecture.
The workshops were well attended and participants were better able to understand the key factors to be considered in fostering success for Māori in tertiary settings. Next month we will be talking to participants about the changes they have made and what further assistance they need.
We are very grateful to both Janinka and Lynne for the time and effort they made in presenting these worthwhile workshops.
