Integrating Emancipatory Education into Work Integrated Learning
The Southern Hub is pleased to support University of Canterbury’s Dr Jessica Johnston as she researches emancipatory education within Work-integrated-learning (WIL). In this regional hub fund project Jessica will conduct a literature review of theoretical critiques of tertiary education, specifically focused on vocational training and WIL. This will be followed by pre- and post- interviews with 12 Bachelor of Arts interns, and their academic and site supervisors, to document the success and failure of teaching practices that address how to include emancipatory education within WIL.
The proposed literature review together with a Bachelor of Arts internship handbook documenting techniques, strategies and practices necessary to address tensions within WIL will be of interest and value to all those involved in WIL.
