Electronic portfolios for distance learning: A case from a nursing clinical course
This article reviews the use of eportfolios to overcome the challenges of clinical nursing courses offered via distance learning.

In this review of an online R.N. to B.S. completion clinical course in community and public health nursing, the self-directed learning (SDL) educational theory framework and a project based eportfolio format was instituted as a way to address online learning problems. The results of implementing the eportfolio as a pedagogical practice are examined as well as considerations for improvement in the use of this instructional strategy. Additionally, student and faculty issues related to the introduction and use of the eportfolio are discussed.
