This project will involve interviewing African students and supervisors at two universities and analysing examples of supervisors’ written feedback on student drafts. This project will generate New Zealand-based research evidence about supervising African students. The emphasis of this project is on enhancing intercultural communication and understanding within supervision practice for all students, thereby seeking to improve supervisory practices in universities.

This project analyses the methods used to select students for entry into a capped-enrolments Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree. In particular, it explores the issue of seeking relativity between NCEA and Cambridge International Examinations systems, and understanding the relationship between having completed certain engineering pre-requisite subjects and 'preparedness' for studying engineering.

This project investigates the impact of a novel framework for the use of digital artefacts in tertiary settings (the Digital Artefacts for Learner Engagement Framework: DiAL-e) on a group of adult learners.

This research addresses the question of service learning. It examines the impact of selecting varying theoretical approaches in a tertiary settings, and provides a critique of critical service-learning approaches.

This study evaluates the pedagogical affordances of a media-sharing application, VoiceThread, in mobile learning contexts.

This research explores work-integrated learning opportunities in the case of tertiary sports courses. It seeks identify employers' expectations of key student and graduate competencies in an attempt to match these with those offered to students.

A research project which aims to identify structures and processes which maximise the learning experiences of student teachers during practicum within the context of New Zealand Schools in the 21st Century.

This project analyses data from open education practices trials from three courses in a teacher training programme, and proposes a model for application in other areas. Project outcomes include a data analysis of the trial courses, presentation of a scalable model, and a users guide for other educational providers. Regular notes will be published to document the project in real time and all outputs carry a Creative Commons Attribution license.

To discuss how, in response to the change in the legal relationships between tertiary institutions and students and the legal consequences of that relationship, Massey University focused on the development of a regulatory framework which endeavoured to affirm the contractual nature of the relationship between the University and its students.
