Promoting Quality Research
This study examines whether research quality contributes to the likelihood of promotion for academic staff. As such, it examines whether increasing research quality delivers private benefits to the individuals concerned.
Analysis data from the Performance Based Research Funding (PBRF) Quality Evaluations in 2003 and 2006 to see whether higher research quality contributes to the likelihood of being promoted to a higher academic rank. Logistic regression is used to isolate this variable from other factors which may influence the likelihood of promotion.
