The project aims are to answer the research question, How useful is continuing professional development for experienced teachers in the tertiary vocational education sector in New Zealand? and to identify how PD might look like for them in an ideal world.
Assessments are the primary means with which student academic success is measured, yet students transitioning from secondary school into large first-year classes often struggle to understand the assessment task and structures at university. This project aims to identify student assessment problems and introduce strategies to address these.
Led by Ako Aotearoa, with support from the Tertiary Education Commission and the Ministry of Education, this project resulted in advice and recommendations that will improve the outcomes and experiences of priority learners in our tertiary system.
