Half-day workshop | $165 + GST
About the workshop
It is designed to explore practical strategies that teachers can adopt to better engage and meet the needs of learners from Pacific Island backgrounds. Topics covered include: establishing a safe and positive learning environment, learning about important cultural aspects, and implementing helpful tools and teaching methodologies.
This interactive session will be useful for teachers (and administrators) who are new to working with Pacific students, and offers a refresher for those more experienced.
Pauline Luafutu-Simpson, workshop facilitator, has 25 years teaching and research experience. She has also facilitated many Pacific awareness workshops and currently works in the Pacific Development Team at the University of Canterbury.
These workshops are part of Ako Aotearoa’s Professional Development Programme – an initiative to bring high quality, evidence-based and affordable professional development to educators and managers across New Zealand’s diverse tertiary education sector.
