Integrating Corpus Consultation into the Language Learning Environment
This research examines the value of using corpus consultation as a tool to assist language learning. It uses the context of an English as an Additional Language (EAL) classroom to examine the ways in which this tool might best be integrated into a language learning curriculum.
The subjects of this research were 19 undergraduate EAL students at one New Zealand tertiary organisation. The value of corpus consulation was examined through the use of a course assignment which required them to examine different language features which were characteristic of varying genres through the use of a concordancing software programme, Wordsmith Tools.
